Ice Skating

This activity is great for families or for a date night fun and romantic activity. Try one of the below outdoor ice rinks for a great atmosphere and have fun!

What you will do?
Go out and ice skate outside. Get some fresh air, have some laughs, and get some exercise. Ice skating is not only fun but will give your legs quite a workout. All of the places listed above rent skates for a small fee so all you need to bring is you and some friends.
National Sculpture Garden - Perhaps the best place to skate outdoors in the DC area is the National Sculpture Garden where you can skate outdoors among the sculptures. The atmosphere here is awesome.

Pentagon Row Outdoor Ice Skating Rink – This place is really cool and claims to be the largest outdoor rink in NOVA and the second biggest in all of Virginia.

Tips:
- Check the weather before you go because most of the places can shut down if its too warm or raining.
- Dress in layers as it is December and you will be outside but while skating you may get warm.
- Have fun and don’t worry if you don’t know how to skate.
- Make sure you have ID because most places require one for ice skate rentals.
- Some place can get quite busy on the weekends and you may have to wait.
- Many of these places are open on Christmas Day. Call first to see if they are open!
- If you don’t know how to ice skate most of these rinks offer lessons for an additional charge.
- Most rinks can be rented out for private events.
